Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has met with the Prime Minister during his visit to Malaysia. During the meeting, Maumoon gave him a letter from President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, inviting him to Maldives.

A second tourist has passed away at Velidhu Island Resort of AA. atoll during a diving accident on Tuesday. This is the second death of a tourist at the resort in the recent days.

Alliance before Parliament Elections
Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and Peoples’ National Congress (PNC) coalition have stated that the time has come to form an alliance between the Progressive Coalition and Jumhooree Party. PNC Leader Abdul Raheem Abdulla has said that only other patriotic political leader loyal to the country beside Yameen Abdul Gayyoom is leader of Jumhooree Party and Speaker of the Parliament, Gasim Ibrahim. Gasim would not condone unconstitutional actions and will leave the coalition to join arms with the opposition .The opposition’s statement comes following the arrest of former president of Maldives and leader of PPM, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom on Monday afternoon on charges of money-laundering.

Parliament committee to summon MMA Governor
Parliament Member of Galolhu North constituency, Eva Abdulla, submitted a case to the relevant committee of parliament on Tuesday to summon the Governor of Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), Ahmed Naseer, regarding the sudden termination of former head of MMA’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), Abdulla Ashraf.
