Minister Moosa Zameer to Embark on Official Visit to China

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that Minister Moosa Zameer will undertake an official visit to China from June 20 to 24. This trip comes at the invitation of Wang Yi, the Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China.

The visit aims to bolster bilateral relations between the Maldives and China, focusing on deepening economic and political ties. During his stay, Minister Zameer will engage in official talks with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, and meet with senior officials from the Chinese government. These discussions are expected to cover a wide range of topics, including trade, investment, and regional security.

Minister Zameer’s itinerary also includes meetings with key Chinese companies that have significantly contributed to the economic development of the Maldives. These engagements highlight the strategic importance of Chinese investment in the Maldivian economy, particularly in infrastructure projects and tourism development.

Accompanying Minister Zameer on this visit are the Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohamed Shafeeq, and the Minister of Construction and Infrastructure, Dr. Abdul Muththlib. Senior officials from the government will also join the delegation.
