Two Pakistanis caught red handed, attempting to smuggle Drugs into Maldives

In an attempt to smuggle drugs into Maldives, two Pakistani nationals have been arrested.

Based on the intel received by the Maldives Police Service, a joint operation was carried out by the police’s Drug Enforcement Department and Tourist Police at Velana International Airport.

The joint operation conducted on March 25 resulted in the arrest of Moimina Gulfam 20, and Ahmed Ali 32.

The police gave details that drugs were found in their body cavities as well as in their belongings.

In addition to this, the duo were presented in the court, where the judge ordered them to be remanded in custody for 15 days.

Previously, on March 25, 2022, police seized 42 kilos of drugs. In another operation, police seized 12.6 kilos of drugs and arrested suspects which was conducted in Male’, Hulhumale’ Phase I, Hulhumale’ Phase II, and at sea.

Authorities have recently been seizing large amounts of drugs and arrests have been made in relation to that in various operations.
