Male’ Mayor Adam Azim has won the Male’ Area Presidency in the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s National Council by-elections. Azim received over 600 votes, defeating former MP Mohamed Falah, who got 200 votes.

Previously, Azim led the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) through the Jumhoori Party but endorsed the MDP during the last presidential election. He later joined the MDP and won the Male’ mayoral elections.

The Male’ Area Presidency became vacant after former Mayor Shifa Mohamed resigned. The MDP held by-elections for 20 constituencies, including the Male’ area, to fill these positions.
