Maldives strongly condemns the Israeli air strike on a Gaza hospital, which killed hundreds of innocent civilians. Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid expressed his shock and horror at the hospital attack in a Wednesday statement.
The Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in central Gaza, which was a refuge for those injured and displaced by Israeli bombings, was struck by an Israeli air attack on Tuesday night. This tragic incident claimed the lives of at least 500 people and left countless others injured.
Minister Shahid emphasized that these actions, such as attacking hospitals and targeting civilians, go against international humanitarian laws. He stated, “We wholeheartedly condemn this attack.” Maldives urges the international community to take all necessary actions to stop such deliberate acts of aggression and ensure unrestricted humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Medical and rescue workers have previously raised concerns about Israeli attacks intentionally targeting medical vehicles. This hospital attack is part of an ongoing series of Israeli air raids that have resulted in the deaths of over 3,000 people and the destruction of entire neighborhoods in Gaza.
