Two lawmakers in Addu attacked in separate incidents

Two lawmakers from Addu, Feydhoo MP Mohamed Nihad and Maradhoo MP Ibrahim Shareef have fallen victim to violence in two separate incidents. These incidents have raised concerns and cast a shadow over the ongoing presidential election runoff.

Maradhoo MP Ibrahim Shareef found himself at the receiving end of an assault near a polling station. Recounting the distressing incident, Shareef revealed that he was attacked while inside the Manhattan Business Hotel near Izzuddin School. Shocking photos circulating on social media showed Shareef’s face severely swollen, with injuries sustained around his eyes.

Expressing his strong condemnation, Shareef decried such acts of violence aimed at sowing chaos during the crucial voting process in the presidential election runoff. He promptly reported the matter to the police, triggering investigations into the incident.

Meanwhile, Feydhoo MP Mohamed Nihad was also subjected to an attack within Addu city. Mayor Ali Nizar confirmed that Nihad had sustained injuries, noting the uncertainty surrounding the motive behind the attack and the identity of the group responsible.
