President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced that Uthuru Thila Falhu (UTF) is one of the designated locations where the government intends to allocate land plots. This initiative is part of a newly unveiled project aimed at granting land to individuals who have resided in Malé for 20 years or more.

UTF is presently the site where construction is underway for the harbor and dockyard for the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF). Speaking at a campaign event organized by the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) last night, President Solih declared that Malé will be connected to UTF through this new project. He assured that Maldivians will have the opportunity to own land in UTF, emphasizing that this privilege is exclusively for Maldivian citizens, not foreigners.

President Solih further detailed the expansion plans, stating, “We will connect Malé to Hulhumalé, Gulhifalhu to Thilafushi, Thilafushi to Giraavaru Falhu, and Giraavaru Falhu to Uthuru Thila Falhu with a bridge.”

The president’s newly announced project focuses on granting land plots to individuals who have lived in Malé for 20 years or more or those who have been registered as residents in Malé for the same duration. President Solih emphasized that the application process for this scheme is now open, encouraging all eligible individuals to apply.

“We are committed to ensuring that land ownership is accessible to all without discrimination,” President Solih affirmed.
