Adam Azim officially assumed the role of Male’ City Mayor following his swearing-in ceremony held at Dharubaaruge last night. Azim, who ran as a candidate of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), emerged victorious in the mayoral elections held on January 13 with a significant majority. The inauguration event also saw the swearing-in of the three elected Male’ City Council Members: Aminath Rishfa, representing Henveiru South; Hassan Nizam, representing Maafannu South; and Ahmed Rishwan, representing Henveiru Central.
Notably, all three Councilors are affiliated with the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC). It is worth mentioning that Ahmed Rishwan, initially elected on an MDP ticket, made a political switch and joined the People’s National Congress (PNC) on Monday afternoon.
