Speaking at a campaign gathering at Landhoo, Noonu Atoll, President Solih stated, “Each vote is important, and every elected parliamentarian is important. So, Saturday’s decision will be very clear”. The president reiterated that the pledges made by the government would not be fulfilled should the opposition attain majority seats in the parliament.

Former President Gayoom’s Maumoon Reform Movement has denied supporting JP’s candidate for Gan constituency. Earlier on Thursday, at campaign rally, JP leader Qasim Ibrahim had announced that MRM is “supporting” him for the parliamentary elections. Shortly after, MRM’s secretary general Abdul Aleem denied that “this is false,” and that the movement has not made any such decision.

Jumhooree Party (JP)’s president, Ali Waheed continues to criticize party leader Qasim Ibrahim. Despite the party being at odds with the main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party , Waheed has been joining the latter’s campaign rallies for Saturday’s parliamentary elections.
Former Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has filed a case at the Supreme Court challenging his dismissal as Vice President of Maldives. Jameel was impeached from the position of Vice President by a vote taken in the parliament back in 2015.
