The Elections Commission (EC) has declared that the second round of the presidential election, which is planned for September 30, would have extended voting hours until 5:00 p.m.
The second round of the presidential elections will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., according to an announcement made by EC Deputy Ismail Habeeb during a news conference on Tuesday afternoon.
The polls closed at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, during the first round of voting. Voters in line before 4:00 p.m., however, were permitted to cast their ballots.
The lowest voter participation in recent elections occurred in the first round of the election, which recorded a 79 percent turnout. Nearly 57,000 of the more than 282,000 eligible voters failed to cast their votes.
For individuals who want to re-register for the runoff elections, EC will provide them a two-day window. On September 16 and 17, on both Saturday and Sunday, you may take advantage of this chance.
